Police have arrested the driver of the ‘Chander Gari’ which ran over and killed two school students in Chattogram’s Fatikchhari upazila on February 9.

The arrestee was identified as Md Alauddin (26), hailing from Shaikupa Narayanhat in Fatikchhari upazila, our Chattogram staff correspondent reports quoting police.

On information, police conducted a drive in Bayezid Bostami area of the port city and arrested Alauddin around 3:30am today, said Rabiul Islam, officer-in-charge of Fatikchhari Police Station.

During primary interrogation, Alauddin said he did not have any driving licence, said the OC.

The accident took place on the Chattogram-Khagrachhari highway, when a locally modified vehicle ‘Chander Gari’ ran over Mishu Akter (16) and Nisha Moni (17), who were on their way back home after submitting assignments at school. They both died on the spot.
