7 killed, 22 hurt in road accidents
Seven people were killed and 22 were injured in road accidents in two districts during the last two days.
In Mymensingh, Murtaza Khatun (60) and her granddaughter Jannat (4) were killed when a covered-van ran them over while they were crossing Dhaka-Mymensingh highway at Mehrabari yesterday, said police.
Meanwhile, seven army men were injured when their Dhaka-bound vehicle fell into a roadside ditch in the same area as the driver lost control over the steering yesterday, said Bhoraduba Highway Police Station OC Ali Hossain.
They were rushed to Combined Military Hospital in Mymensingh.
In Trishal, a seven-month-old girl, Sinnatur, was killed and eight others were injured as a bus hit a truck parked beside Dhaka-Mymensingh highway at Kazirshimla yesterday. In another incident, Rina Khatun (50) and Shariful Islam (18) were killed and two others injured when a CNG-run auto-rickshaw and a truck collided on Mymensingh-Jamalpur road at Gaturi Bazar yesterday.
In Chattogram, Papon Barua (40) was killed and five were injured as a CNG-run auto-rickshaw and a human haulier collided head-on at Noapara in Raozan yesterday.
In Muktagachha, Mahin Mia (19) died when a lorry hit his bike at Borohisya Bazar on Tuesday night.
