Fans have been expecting Aquaman and The Lost Kingdom to be filled with emotional deaths, with many speculating that even Arthur Curry’s baby gets the axe! (Well, spear.) It seems the trailer has confirmed one of these deaths already. Specifically, it shows Black Manta stabbing Temuera Morrison’s Thomas Curry while saying he will murder Aquaman’s family:

The international trailer also features the return of Randall Park as Dr. Shin with some cool moments in the ice caps. Jason Momoa also acts his heart out in one particularly emotional scene trying to save his child from Black Manta. Many people have written off Aquaman and The Lost Kingdom, but this new footage proves it has plenty of amazing moments (and sorrowful death) left in store for Arthur Curry!

The future of the DC Universe

James Gunn and Peter Safran told journalists that their vision for the DC Universe includes locked scripts, wiggle room, and a unified storyline across film, television, animation, and video game projects. The two explained that the DC Universe could bring back elements from previous DC regimes, meaning that their eight-to-year plan is not a full reboot.

Shazam! Fury of the GodsThe Flash, and Blue Beetle have all been released following the announcement of the new DC Universe, with Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom still slated to hit theaters in 2023. Will the characters from those movies make appearances in the new DCU? Only Gunn and Safran know.
