Ben Affleck Says His Time On ‘The Flash’ Was ‘Over Too Soon’

Ben Affleck is set to make his final appearance as Batman in The Flash when it runs into theaters this weekend. Affleck reflected on his time with the character in a recent interview, saying his experience on set was “over too soon”.

While his casting as Batman served controversial at the start, fans quickly grew to love Ben Affleck as the Caped Crusader. After seven years, that time is officially set to come to an end with The Flash. Affleck spoke about his final appearance in a recent interview at the film’s premiere, saying that he had a great time working with director Andy Mushcietti and that his time on set was over far too soon:

“The tone is a difficult thing with these movies, trying to figure out how serious, how dark, how funny, how engaging it is,” Affleck tells The Movie Report. “And people that have done it really well have struck a balance with that tone, and I feel like Andy really did that with this movie. And it was a lot of fun. I really had a great time and it was over too soon.”

With rumors that Andy Mushcietti is set to film Batman: The Brave and the Bold after The Flash, it’s a shame that fans will never see Ben Affleck’s Batman appear in a full project directed by him. It had previously been confirmed that Affleck would reappear in Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom, though delays to the film and changes in the DC Universe seem to suggest that his role has been entirely cut from the film, making it unlikely he’ll be back as Bruce Wayne anytime soon.

James Gunn and Peter Safran’s DC Universe plans

James Gunn and Peter Safran told journalists that their vision for the DC Universe includes locked scripts, wiggle room and a unified storyline across film, teleivsion, animation and video game projects. The two explained that the DC Universe could bring back elements from previous DC regimes, meaning that their eight-to-year plan is not a full reboot.

The FlashBlue Beetle and Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom are currently in various stages of post-production at Warner Bros. Discovery, with all three DC Universe movies slated to hit theaters in 2023. Will the characters from those movies make appearances in the new DCU? Only Gunn and Safran know.
