‘Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3’ Cast Reflects on Trilogy in Emotional Featurette

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 is set to be the final chapter in the wildly popular superhero franchise, and the cast and crew have recently reflected on the bittersweet nature of the film in a new featurette released by Marvel. The clip includes interviews with the film’s stars, as well as Marvel Studios boss Kevin Feige, who speaks about the unexpected success of the franchise.

The Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 featurette showcases the bittersweet emotions felt by the cast and crew as they wrap up the final chapter in the Guardians story. Marvel Studios boss Kevin Feige makes an appearance, reminiscing on the initial reaction to the first film’s release. “People didn’t understand why we were doing that space movie with a tree and a raccoon,” Feige says. “This found family putting their trauma behind them to become their best selves—there’s something really special about that.”

One confirmed aspect of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 is the return of James Gunn as writer and director. Gunn was originally set to direct the film after the success of the first two Guardians flicks, but was temporarily removed from the project due to controversial tweets that resurfaced from his past. However, after a public outcry from the Guardians cast and fans, Gunn was reinstated on the film. Vol. 3 is his last Marvel movie due to his commitments to DC Studios.

What to expect from the third Guadians movie

The Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 synopsis reads as follows: “Our beloved band of misfits are settling into life on Knowhere, but it isn’t long before their lives are upended by the echoes of Rocket’s turbulent past. Peter Quill, still reeling from the loss of Gamora, must rally his team around him on a dangerous mission to save Rocket’s life – a mission that, if not completed successfully, could quite possibly lead to the end of the Guardians as we know them.”

Written and directed by James Gunn, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 stars Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldaña, Dave Bautista, Vin Diesel, Bradley Cooper, Karen Gillan, Pom Klementieff, Elizabeth Debicki, Sean Gunn, Sylvester Stallone, Will Poulter, Chukwudi Iwuji and Maria Bakalova.
