‘Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3’ Director James Gunn Teases Rocket’s Fate
Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 serves as the end of the Marvel Studios trilogy written and directed by James Gunn. A new exchange on Instagram hints that the film may also be the end for Rocket Raccoon.
This new tease from James Gunn comes off a new Instagram post highlighting the creation process of one of the new posters for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3. The poster in question shows a young Rocket Raccooon in front of a chalkboard, causing many fans to lament his potential death in the film in the comments. Gunn responded with a number of cryptic messages, telling one person who wanted Rocket to fly off to another planet that “that’s not how stories work”. The interactions can be seen below:.
Many view the second comment about sending him off world not being how stories work as confirmation that Rocket Raccoon will die in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3. However, it’s more likely Gunn is addressing the idea that someone can be sent off world for a bit at the end of their story. Stories have consequences and often the emotion comes from the best and worst parts of those consequences. While fans don’t know if Rocket will die in the film, they can rest assured the end of his story will be one full of heart and true to his character.
What to expect from the third Guadians movie
The Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 synopsis reads as follows: “Our beloved band of misfits are settling into life on Knowhere, but it isn’t long before their lives are upended by the echoes of Rocket’s turbulent past. Peter Quill, still reeling from the loss of Gamora, must rally his team around him on a dangerous mission to save Rocket’s life – a mission that, if not completed successfully, could quite possibly lead to the end of the Guardians as we know them.”
Written and directed by James Gunn, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 stars Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldaña, Dave Bautista, Vin Diesel, Bradley Cooper, Karen Gillan, Pom Klementieff, Elizabeth Debicki, Sean Gunn, Sylvester Stallone, Will Poulter, Chukwudi Iwuji and Maria Bakalova.
