Post polls violence in Ctg: Injured man dies at CMCH

A man, who sustained injuries in an attack allegedly by the supporters of a member candidate for the Rajanagar Union Parishad election under Rangunia Upazila in Chattogram on February 2, died at Chattogram Medical College Hospital today.

The victim was identified as Yousuf Ali (43), brother of newly elected Rajanagar UP Member Abu Tayeb, said Md Mahabub Milki, officer-in-Charge of Rangunia Police Station, reports our Chattogram correspondent.

Yousuf breathed his last around 6:00 am, said the OC.

Abu Tayeb won the UP election held on November 28.
According to the victim’s family, Tayeb’s rival candidate Azgar Ali and his supporter attacked Yousuf while he was on the way to his home from Ranirhat Bazar On February 2.

On February 6, the victim’s wife Shahinur Akter filed a case accusing Azgar Ali and 11 people at Rangunia Police Station.

The body was sent to the CMCH morgue for autopsy, the OC added.
