‘The Marvels’: New Image Takes Kamala Khan Out Of This World
The Marvels is set to bring Iman Vellani’s Kamala Khan (a.k.a. Ms. Marvel) to the big screen alongside her hero Captain Marvel, played by Brie Larson. A new image takes the two heroes on a brand new journey out of this world.
Ms. Marvel is certainly one of the most anticipated characters for fans to see in The Marvels. Iman Vellani was a breakout star in Phase 4 of the MCU as Kamala Khan, with fans counting down the moments until she made it to the big screen alongside Brie Larson’s Captain Marvel. A new image from the film shows the two heroes together on an alien planet, bringing Kamala further from home than ever before:
Ms. Marvel has certainly not been a stranger to space travel in the comics. However, this trip is sure to be a monumental one for Iman Vellani’s version of Kamala Khan, especially alongside Brie Larson’s Captain Marvel. The Marvels is set to forge the bond between the two characters stronger than ever before, and it’s clear that fans will get lost in the ride just as much as the heroes.
The talent behind The Marvels
The Marvels is set to be a groundbreaking film in many ways. Not only does it feature three powerful female superheroes, but it also has a female director, Nia DaCosta, who previously directed the horror flick Candyman. The movie features a cast that includes Zawe Ashton, Park Seo-joon, Saagar Shaikh, Zenobia Shroff, and Mohan Kapur.
“She has a really calm vibe, too,” Iman Vellani said about DaCosta. “These movies are not easy to make at all. There’s like a million, bajillion little moving pieces. She and [executive producer] Mary [Livanos] did such a great job to keep morale high. Even if there were days where they wanted to rip people’s heads off, they would never show it and never put their stress on anyone else.”
In addition to directing The Marvels, Nia DaCosta also co-wrote the script alongside Megan McDonnell, Elissa Karasik, and Zeb Wells. During an interview, DaCosta described the movie as being “full comic book madness,” teasing what audiences can expect from the latest Marvel Cinematic Universe project.
