On February 20, 2019, 71 people lost their lives in a fire at Chawkbazar’s Churihatta. After the tragedy, the government decided to close down all the chemical warehouses in the area. Because of the population density, authorities decided to relocate the warehouses to a safer location. But in reality, even after 3 years, the warehouses haven’t been relocated. Warehouses are still operational without any necessary safety measures. The locals are still living in a hazardous area.
Today’s Star Special is about the urgent need to relocate these warehouses to a safer location and the concerns and frustration of families of the victims.
